Appropriate Adult Scheme for Young Suspects (AAYS)

Singapore Children's Society was appointed the service provider for AAYS in February 2017. Under the scheme, adult volunteers will be trained as Appropriate Adults (AAs) to support a young suspect, aged between 7 to below 16 years old, who needs to attend law enforcement interviews.

- 21 years and above

 

- Passion to support youth

- To attend to mandatory briefing and training 

- All applicants are subjected to screening and selection process

 

- To be present in law enforcement interviews* to assist and provide support to the young suspect

- To be a neutral party during these interviews

- If necessary, to aid communication between the young suspect and the Investigation Officer (IO)

 


*Please take note that interviews can happen at any time of the day, from Monday to Sunday. Trained volunteers can choose to support interviews that suit your availability.

Average of four times a year
(1-year term)

Location: Islandwide

Briefing Session:
- 27 July or 3 August
- 9.30am – 11.30am

Training Session:
- 17 August or 24 August
- 9.15am – 3.15pm

Sunbeam Friends Club

It is a place for children to forge new friendships with peers in their community. It provides a platform for them to interact in a fun and interactive environment.

- 21 years and above

-To interact with children and facilitate during Sunbeam  sessions

- To provide assistance to main facilitator by preparing for sessions and classroom management 

- To be a role model to the children

- To participate actively in ad- hoc community work events such as Family Day, Walk for Our Children 

 

Once a month

Sat: 2.00 – 4.00pm
