Tribute to Volunteers 2015 – Voices of the Singapore River

Go back in time to meet coolies, samsui women and rickshaw pullers whose sacrifices helped to bring about the Singapore of today.

Singapore Children’s Society presents a local theatre production titled Voices of the Singapore River as part of the Society’s outreach and tribute to its volunteers. Based on a book of poems, From The Belly of The Carp, by Roger Jenkins, this play will be performed by The Glowers Drama Group, in English, Mandarin and local dialects.

For the past 63 years, volunteers have been integral to the work of Children’s Society. Our supporters have helped to bring hope and encouragement to our children, youth and families in need.

Every year, Children’s Society organises the Tribute to Volunteers event to show the Society’s appreciation toward its volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
