Family and Children Outreach @ Children’s Society

Family and Children Outreach @ Children’s Society reaches out to children who are either not yet registered in a school or attending school regularly. Social service practitioners work with these children and their families and address barriers in order to help the children achieve regular school attendance. The Centre also supports children affected by incarceration by providing tele-visit facilities for these families and running programmes to encourage contact between the children and their incarcerated parents.

Roundbox @ Children’s Society

RoundBox @ Children’s Society is a youth drop-in centre that aims to promote positive development while reducing and preventing at-risk behaviour. The Centre uses the Sports and Arts (SPAR) Framework to reach out to youth in a supportive and nurturing environment. Youth are ingrained with positive character-building values such as respect and responsibility, while developing skills and interests such as football, fitness and jam band.

Volunteer Positions Requirements Frequency Length of Commitment
Boxing Instructor
  • Ability to deliver boxing classes to a group of interested youths aged 13 to 18 across different skillset and fitness levels.
  • Able to manage a group, build good rapport with the youths and track their progression
  • Knowledgeable about boxing techniques with at least 1 year of teaching experience
  • Ability to converse in simple English as a medium of instruction for conducting classes
  • Able to give clear and detailed instructions during classes
  • Friendly and approachable disposition
  • Relevant knowledge in physiology, kinesiology, and sports science would be advantageous
  • Experience in local or overseas competitions would be advantageous
  • Passionate to give back to the community and expose youths to the advantages of boxing
Once a week over one month (per cycle)

1.5-2 hours per session
1 month for cycle in 2024

Yishun Family Service @ Children’s Society promotes stable family life through various services and programmes, with the primary focus of serving families and individuals, and helping them to achieve independence, stability and resilience.

Tinkle Friend is a national toll-free helpline and chatline for all primary school children in Singapore who need a listening ear. Manned by trained volunteers and staff, Tinkle Friend provides support, advice and information to lonely and distressed children, especially in situations when their parents or main caregivers are unavailable.

Tinkle Friend Volunteer
  • Enjoying chatting with children aged from 7 to 12 years old via either helpline or online chat or both
  • Able to listen and empathize with others
  • Preferably with experience interacting with children
  • Must be 21 years old and above
  • Commit to at least 3 duty slots a month for at least one year (all duties are held physically at our centre)
  • Required to fulfil 2 afternoon slots & 1 evening slot upon completion of training

Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society is a residential home and gazetted place of safety for children who have been abused and neglected and are in need of protection, or whose parents are unable to provide proper care.

VOX @ Children’s Society

VOX @ Children’s Society is a drop-in centre that serves youth aged between 13 and 18. In modelling its intervention on the Positive Youth Development Framework, the Centre aims to impart the 5Cs – Caring, Character, Competence, Confidence and Connection – to the youth through developmental programme and sports. Youth who require more targeted help will be given the necessary support through casework and counselling.

Photography Instructor Technical skills:
  • Camera gear: Knowing the functions of the camera including things like aperture, shutter speed, ISO (all related to light), and how to use different lenses
  • Lighting: Understanding how natural and artificial light work will make pictures come alive
  • Composition: Arranging the elements in the photo to create a pleasing image
  • Editing: Ability to edit photos on computers Basic editing skills is much valued


Creative Skills:
  • Vision: A photographer’s eye! Seeing the world in a unique way and capturing interesting moments
  • Problem-solving: Sometimes things don’t go as planned. Being able to think on one’s feet and find creative solutions is a must
  • Communication: Ability to translate intention into photos
  • Able to plan outings at areas for photography

Video Editor (Social Media) Technical skills:
  • Familiar with social media
  • Proficiency in video editing software: Ability to use video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar programs
  • Basic understanding of video editing principles: Familiarity with cutting, transitions, adding text and graphics, audio editing, and colour correction is preferred
  • Access to a computer with video editing software: The organization may not provide equipment, so having your own suitable computer may be helpful


Soft Skills:
  • Creativity and an eye for details: Ability to create engaging and impactful videos targeting youths
  • Teamwork: Openness to work with various content creators
  • Staying abreast with the current trends: Having the awareness of new social media approach to youths at large

Virtual Drop-In Engagement
  • Proficiency in Gathertown: A basic understanding of Gathertown’s features will be helpful. This includes creating and customizing spaces, using interactive elements (whiteboards, polls, etc.) Be proficient to navigate the platform and resolving any technical glitches that may arise during an event.
  • Basic understanding of virtual event platforms: Familiarity with concepts like spatial audio, breakout rooms, and avatar customization can be helpful
  • Able to engage youths virtually through games, videos and other digital media.

Youth Service @ Children’s Society

Youth Service @ Children’s Society undertakes two youth-at-risk portfolios, namely the Family Guidance Order (FGO) and Integrated Service Provider (ISP). The Centre conducts assessment for the youth and their families and puts up recommendations to the Police and the Youth Court respectively.
