Student Service @ Children’s Society

Tinkle Friend is a national toll-free helpline and chatline for all primary school children in Singapore who need a listening ear. Manned by trained volunteers and staff, Tinkle Friend provides support, advice and information to lonely and distressed children, especially in situations when their parents or main caregivers are unavailable.

Tinkle Friend volunteer
  • 21 years and above
  • Enjoys chatting with children via either helpline or online chat or both
  • Able to listen and empathize with others
  • Experience interacting with children is preferred
  • Commit to all 4 pre- service training days (3, 4, 10 and 11 March 2025, 9.00am to 5.00pm)
  • Able to head to centre for all duty slots. All duties are held physically at centre due to sensitivity and confidentiality issues.
  • Thrice a Month

One Year (commitment period begins after 4 sessions of supervision and upon receipt of certificate.)

Volunteers are required to commit to at least 3 duty slots a month for at least one year with 2 afternoon slots & 1 evening slot to be fulfilled upon completion of training.

VOX @ Children’s Society

VOX @ Children’s Society is a drop-in centre that serves youth aged between 13 and 18. In modelling its intervention on the Positive Youth Development Framework, the Centre aims to impart the 5Cs – Caring, Character, Competence, Confidence and Connection – to the youth through developmental programme and sports. Youth who require more targeted help will be given the necessary support through casework and counselling.

Video Editor (Social Media)

Technical skills:

  • Familiar with social media
  • Proficiency in video editing software: Ability to use video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar programs
  • Basic understanding of video editing principles: Familiarity with cutting, transitions, adding text and graphics, audio editing, and colour correction is preferred
  • Access to a computer with video editing software: The organization may not provide equipment, so having your own suitable computer may be helpful

Soft Skills:

  • Creativity and an eye for details: Ability to create engaging and impactful videos targeting youths
  • Teamwork: Openness to work with various content creators
  • Staying abreast with the current trends: Having the awareness of new social media approach to youths at large
Once a week or upon activationMinimum 6 months
Virtual Drop-In Engagement
  • Proficiency in Gathertown: A basic understanding of Gathertown’s features will be helpful. This includes creating and customizing spaces, using interactive elements (whiteboards, polls, etc.) Be proficient to navigate the platform and resolving any technical glitches that may arise during an event.
  • Basic understanding of virtual event platforms: Familiarity with concepts like spatial audio, breakout rooms, and avatar customization can be helpful
  • Able to engage youths virtually through games, videos and other digital media.

Wednesdays to Fridays

3pm to 6pm
