  • Able to forge bonds with youths, befriend with them and engage youths in activities at the centre (foosball/pool etc.)

Weekly, 2-3 hours per session

Available on Mon or Tues afternoons, 2pm-5.30pm.

3 to 6 months

Volunteer Tutor – Math, English, Mother Tongue

(Sec 2 NT)

  • 20 years old and above
  • To teach a youth (Sec 2 NT) Math, English, Mother Tongue
  • Familiar with MOE syllabus
  • Has experience with tutoring and enjoys interacting with youth
  • Able to travel to Toa Payoh / Braddell. Location address to be advised upon confirmation.

Weekday, Tuesdays or Wednesdays

Preferably during mid-afternoon, 3pm-5pm

Timings can be discussed further.

6 months

Volunteer Tutors -Math English

(Sec 3 NT)

  • 20 years old and above
  • To teach a youth (Sec 3 NT) Math and English
  • Familiar with MOE syllabus
  • Has experience with tutoring and enjoys interacting with youth
  • Able to travel to Toa Payoh / Braddell. Location address to be advised upon confirmation.

Weekday or weekend afternoon or evening

Tinkle Friend Volunteers (x15)
  • Tinkle friend is a national toll-free helpline (1800-2744-788) and chatline (www.tinklefriend.sg) for all primary-school-aged (7 to 12 years old) children in Singapore.

    Tinkle Friend provides support, advice, and information to lonely and distressed children, especially in situations when their parents or main caregivers are unavailable.

    Requirements:
    • 21 years and above
    • Enjoying chatting with children via either helpline or online chat or both
    • Able to listen and empathize with others
    • Experience interacting with children is preferred
     

    Roles & Responsibilities:
    • To provide social and emotional support to the children who contact Tinkle Friend via either helpline or online chat or both
    • Listen and engage children in a non-judgemental manner


    Note:
    • Location is at Radin Mas Community Club
    • Potential volunteers will be called for an interview. Thereafter, those who are selected may proceed with the training.
    • All selected volunteers are to attend 3 days of pre-service training:
      • Date: 8, 9, 10 March 2023 (Wed, Thu, Fri)
      • Time: 9.30am to 5pm
      • Venue: TBC (face-to-face training)
    • Volunteers are assessed for suitability for helpline or online chat work at each stage of the training process.
    Helpline: 2.30pm to 5.00pm (Mon to Fri)

    Online chat (Afternoon): 2.30pm to 5.30pm (Mon to Thu) 2.30pm to 5.00pm (Fri)

    Online chat (Evening): 5.00pm to 7.00pm (Mon to Thu)
    • At least one year of commitment
    • Commit to at least 2 duty slots a month for at least one year (all duties are held physically at our centre); volunteers are not allowed to work from home)

    • Able to travel to Sunbeam Place @ Children’s Society, located in Choa Chu Kang area
