Families Get a Kick Out of Ola Ole!

November 2015

To express their appreciation for the support they received during their time at Jurong Youth Centre, 27 members of its alumni came together to kick off Ola Ole!, a family soccer tournament.

Held on 22 August at the Canadian International School, the tournament brought together family and friends of the alumni. They competed in teams of five.

This is the first time the alumni, now aged between 19 and 24, have organised a community event. Its members hope Ola Ole! will encourage family bonding around a healthy activity, and inspire other youth to contribute meaningfully to society.

As first-time event organisers, putting an event together was not without its challenges, said alumni member Ms Radhiyah Ahmad, aged 20.

“Even though there were ups and downs at the beginning, we managed to solve the issues and ended the event with a smile. Teamwork made our event a success!”

All Ola Ole! participants received prizes that included hampers, goodie bags and vouchers. A total of 157 people, including reserve players, participated in the tournament.
