Making Festive Wishes Come True
For families that struggle to afford the basics, toys and even diapers seem like the things of dreams and are often deemed extravagant.
But thanks to the annual Boys' Brigade Christmas Share-a-Gift charity drive, wishes for those little extras came true for family beneficiaries of Children Outreach @ Children’s Society.
Following the end-year donation drive, staff members from the Society collected a selection of donated items from The Boys’ Brigade Headquarters and brought them to Children Outreach @ Children’s Society in Bishan for sorting and packing.
Over the weekend of 11 and 12 January 2020, volunteers put together festive packages for 22 families identified through programmes such as Compulsory Education Casework, Enhanced STEP-UP (Primary), Pre-school Outreach, Project LADDER and Project Light. Each package contained some household necessities and a little surprise based on what families had earlier told their caseworkers they wished for.
They then played Santa, delivering the packages themselves.

Mr Ng Hsiao Feng (above), who volunteered with his family, said they had been looking for ways to help those less fortunate – and this turned out to be perfect.
"Having this opportunity to bring some joy to these families has been both meaningful and rewarding to my own,” he said.
The Society is on the lookout for more volunteers, including for our street collection for Flag Day 2020. Flag Day is one of our key independent fundraising initiatives. More details will be made available on our Facebook page in March.
