Exchanging Big Ideas for Helping Little Ones

July 2014

Singapore Children’s Society Sunbeam Place and Nepal-based NGO Child Welfare Scheme Nepal (CWSN), got together in February to share their ideas and best practices for helping little ones in need.

Six management staff from CWSN visited Sunbeam Place and learnt about Children’s Society’s and Sunbeam Place’s programmes and operations, and then shared information about their own initiatives.

Like the Society, CWSN’s mandate is also to help children and to ensure their rights to health, education and protection.

Director of Sunbeam Place Dr Siew Lai Keun said: “It was insightful to learn about the exclusive programmes that Child Welfare Scheme Nepal has, such as their outreach programmes to rural areas and vocational training programmes.”

Mr Janardan Thapa, Research and Fund-raising Manager of CWSN, added that the two organisations shared a lot in common.

“We would love to take this relationship further in terms of exchanging experiences and looking for avenues for collaboration in the future,” he said.

The Nepalese guests presented Sunbeam Place with a gift of handcrafted artwork, pictured on the left.
