Business Community Tees off for Children in Need

July 2014

Singapore’s business community showed that it was more than ready to chip in for children in need at Singapore Children’s Society’s first charity golf event, held at The Singapore Island Country Club on 30 May 2014.

The event aimed to rally the Society’s corporate donors from its 1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need programme as well as other golf enthusiasts from the business fraternity.

“One of the objectives of Charity Golf 2014 was to encourage the business community to come together to make a difference to the lives of underprivileged children,” said Mr Alfred Tan, Executive Director of the Society.

Minister for Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat was the Guest-of-Honour for the event.

The players teed off in the afternoon, and attended a dinner and prize presentation in the evening. Money was raised by the sale of 21 corporate flights, each priced at $3,888, as well as through a silent auction during the dinner.

Children’s Society raised close to $338,000 during the tournament. Proceeds will go towards running the Society’s programmes and services across its 10 service centres.
