Beat Bullies: Be the Change!
Singapore Children’s Society took its anti-bullying campaign on the road with its first Bully-Free Roadshow, held at Jurong Point Shopping Centre on 21 and 22 August.
Themed ‘Be the Change, Be Bully-Free’, it taught the public – young and old – the importance of preventing bullying, as well as ways to help victims and deal with bullies. The roadshow also hoped to reach out to victims, to let them know that they were not alone and could get help. Creative props and boards at a photo booth allowed participants to capture their anti-bullying messages. They could also craft their own messages against bullying on a blackboard. Messages collected included 'Don’t bully, every little word hurts' and 'You are stronger than you think you are'.
There were prizes to be won at game booths, and free popcorn, cotton candy and goodie bags for participants. Over 2,200 people, including parents, children and youth, participated.
