Riding the K-wave
It was a rousing annyeonghaseyo (hello) to Korea during the KidzFEST programme held at the Children Service Centre on 14 March.
The 27 participating children painted fans in vibrant splashes of blue, yellow and red, and then learnt to make little origami hanbok dresses.
During their mini-lesson on the Korean language, the children not only learnt common Korean greetings, but also the Korean alphabet, and even tried their hand at writing their own names.
It was enough to work up a real appetite for the spread of bibimbap, ramyeon soup and watermelon soda that came next, prepared by the volunteers from Cartus Corporation Pte Ltd.
No one left empty handed – the children got to take home Polaroid snapshots of themselves posing in a life-size Korean costume photo stand-in, and received personalised bookmarks with their names in Korean.
Kamsahamnida to all our volunteers!
