Creating a Child-centric Culture
Singapore Children’s Society Talks and Workshops Programmes Centre has been furthering its mission to educate, empower and encourage our society to create a child-centric culture.
Since it was set up last year, its staff speakers have held lunch time talks to share their knowledge and give tips on parenting to staff from companies that include A*STAR, Singapore Pools and UBS. They have covered topics including child behaviour management, the psycho-emotional needs of children, and cyberbullying.
“Parents and guardians play an important role in imparting the right messages to children… That is why the Centre works to impart effective parenting skills to parents, and shares relevant and practical skills with educators and volunteers,” said Ms Tan Bee Joo, Director of the Centre.
The Centre has also conducted a series of workshops for primary school students on issues such as handling negative peer pressure and boosting self-esteem. Through these workshops, Children’s Society hopes to nurture young people, and help them become responsible young adults with good mental health and well-being.
