Building Resilience for Success

March 2015

Resilience, or the ability to overcome adversity, is vital to the success of any leader – that was the key takeaway for close to 70 youth who attended CABIN Club Camp 2014.

From 4 to 6 November, the 13- to 15-year olds from 11 CABIN schools hit the Sarimbun Scout Camp for Camp Valour, where they were put through a series of activities and adventures to build resilience.

There, the young campers tackled obstacle courses and took on activities such as trekking, rock climbing and night hunts.

Their physical and mental limits were tested, and they learned to think positively about challenges, and overcome obstacles.

And they emerged stronger from them, said camp participant and Chua Chu Kang Secondary School student Sara Leong, 14, adding: “I learnt to adapt, and to be more positive and open-minded when facing challenges.”
