$5.79 Million Raised by 1000E and 1000P in 2016

June 2017

Support for children, youth and families in need remained robust in 2016 despite the lacklustre economy, with a total of $5.79 million raised by the 1,550 individual and business members backing Singapore Children’s Society’s 1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need (1000E) and 1000 Philanthropists (1000P) initiatives.

The contributors were recognised during the 1000 Enterprises and 1000 Philanthropists for Children-in-Need Appreciation Dinner 2017, held on 22 March at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also Coordinating Minister for National Security and Patron of the programmes, was the Guest-of-Honour.

In addition to presenting tokens of appreciation to those who had helped further Children’s Society’s mission of bringing relief and happiness to children in need, DPM Teo also presented a certificate of appointment to the newest ambassador of the 1000E and 1000P programmes.

Mr Lee Bon Leong, Founding and Principal Partner of legal firm Lee Bon Leong and Co., will help engage the business community and individuals to raise funds and awareness on behalf of Children’s Society.

In his speech, DPM Teo thanked the donors who were at the event. He encouraged them to continue to create opportunities for the children under Children’s Society’s charge so they can lead fulfilling lives and become better adults.

“Together with our agencies and corporate partners, we can help fulfil the dreams of children in need and equip them with skills for a brighter future,” he said.
