Thursday, 21 September 2023 – As one of Singapore Children’s Society’s iconic fundraising events, Walk for Our Children is set to return as a physical affair on 30 September. Participants will gather at Palawan Green, Sentosa, for a 2-kilometre morning walkathon that will be launched by Guest of Honour, Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health.
After the walkathon, participants can look forward to a carnival comprising food, games, fringe activities, performances and a bouncy castle for all children. Other notable highlights include an inflatable obstacle challenge station and telematch games where families and friends can put their skills to the test.
There will be a variety of carnival stalls and roving booths set up by the Society’s supporters and service centres, wherein some of its youth beneficiaries will be involved. Avid gamers may challenge youth members from VOX @ Children’s Society to a friendly competition of Mobile Legends, while the general audience can enjoy a music performance by the youth band from Roundbox @ Children’s Society. There will also be games and handicraft stalls set up by the Society’s staff and beneficiaries.
As part of Children’s Society’s work in the mental health sphere, its Oasis for Minds Services will be having an educational activity booth, “How have you bean?”, to raise awareness about mental health for children and youth. Participants also have the option of leaving encouraging notes for others.
With Walk for Our Children 2023, Children’s Society seeks to engage the community and bring together people from all walks of life to raise funds to sustain its work. Through the sale of event tickets and carnival coupons, along with outright donations and event support, the Society hopes to raise at least $500,000 from the project. All proceeds will go towards supporting the programmes and services run by Children’s Society for its diverse profile of beneficiaries.
To further reach out to the general public, Children’s Society will have a promotional roadshow at VivoCity this week till 24 September, where tickets for the Walk will be available at an exclusive roadshow rate. At the roadshow, participants can stand to win attractive prizes, enjoy free popcorn and have a go at a claw machine.
Walk for Our Children 2023, held in conjunction with event supporter, RBC Race For The Kids, is open to all members of the public, individuals and corporates alike. All ticket holders are entitled admission to Sentosa, a fun pack, event t-shirt, and $10 worth of carnival coupons. Interested parties may sign up and find out more via the Walk for Our Children website.
