The March holidays is often an exciting time for children and youth as they take a short break from school to have some fun. As part of Yishun Family Service @ Children’s Society’s holiday programme line-up, 28 of our beneficiaries enjoyed a trip to the S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa on 16 March 2023.
The educational outing was done in conjunction with one of our corporate volunteer organisations, SIA Cargo. Besides our centre’s staff and volunteers, our beneficiaries were also chaperoned by friendly staff volunteers from SIA Cargo.
For some of our beneficiaries, it was their first time visiting the aquarium, and they had a swimmingly good time viewing and learning about the array of sea creatures at the aquarium. From going through large tunnels with sharks, gazing at jellyfish as they changed colours to watching manta rays swimming in a gigantic viewing tank, our beneficiaries were fascinated by the many wonders of the sea.
The outing concluded with a hearty lunch from McDonald’s and SIA goodie bags for all beneficiaries. To show their appreciation, our beneficiaries also gave each of our corporate volunteers handmade “Thank You” cards.
“I enjoyed myself. I saw so many fishes that I had never seen before! I am also happy that SIA gave us an SIA EZ-Link card to keep for memory,” said one of our beneficiaries, Eric.
Farah, one of the staff volunteers from SIA Cargo, shared: “Having the opportunity to see the children’s eyes light up with wonder up close was truly a heart-warming experience. The day was made even more special as the children gave handwritten notes to express their appreciation to each of the volunteers, which was a very touching moment for us.”
