It was an eye-opening, look behind-the-scenes experience for 12 of our beneficiaries from Yishun Family Service @ Children’s Society (YFC) when they were invited to the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Cares Open House 2023 on 23 September. They were treated to a two-hour tour of the cabin at the SIA Training Centre and got the chance to find out more about the work of SIA cabin crew.
The SIA Cares Open House showcased Singapore’s national carrier with SIA’s cabin mock-ups, training facilities and flight simulators.
Our tour ambassador, an SIA cabin crew shared: “We are very excited to host this (event). Seeing the children enjoying themselves gives us joy”.
The children also had the chance to interact with the pilots, cabin crew and engineers who shared about their roles at the airline and the intensive training that they undergo. It was an insightful session for our beneficiaries and staff alike.
The children were also in for a culinary treat when the SIA crew served them chicken ball congee and SIA’s signature satay. These two dishes are part of the menu served during flights.
“The food is so delicious. I don’t mind having more!” said Faris, one of our beneficiaries.
Shaik echoed: “Yes, all the food was good. I am very happy to be here and I also got to speak to the pilot”.
This unique tour provided the beneficiaries with the chance to be exposed to various vocations, encouraging them to pursue different interests and ambitions in the future. A big thank you to the SIA crew who were incredible hosts, patiently sharing their profession with our staff and beneficiaries!
