A record $5.89 million was raised through the Children’s Society’s 1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need (1000E) and 1000 Philanthropists (1000P) programmes in 2015, thanks to the efforts of its 1,133 participants.
These companies and individuals were recognised during Singapore Children’s Society’s 1000 Enterprises and 1000 Philanthropists for Children-in-Need Appreciation Dinner 2016, held on 18 March at Pan Pacific Singapore.
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also Coordinating Minister for National Security and Patron of the programmes, was the Guest-of-Honour. He presented tokens of appreciation to the companies and individuals who have furthered the Society’s mission of bringing relief and happiness to children in need.
DPM Teo also presented certificates of appointment to the two new ambassadors of the 1000E and 1000P programmes. Mr Mohan K. Vaswani, Chairman of Tolaram Corporation Pte Ltd, and Mr Alan Tan Gim Guan, Managing Director of Rasel Catering Singapore Pte Ltd, will help engage the business community and individuals to raise funds and awareness on behalf of the Society.
In his speech, DPM Teo thanked the donors who were at the event and encouraged them to build long-term relationships with Voluntary Welfare Organisations.
“Together, we can strengthen the spirit of giving in Singapore, and build a more caring, gracious, and warm-hearted society for all Singaporeans,” he said.
