Points Scored for Better Health

The students from Project CABIN centres in 14 secondary schools faced off during the Inter-CABIN Captain’s Ball Competition on 29 August at Shuqun Secondary School.

A total of 110 students participated, and after three hours of friendly – even if intense – competition, Sengkang Secondary School emerged as champion.

Peicai Secondary School took second place, while Balestier Hill Secondary School came in third.

The competition aims to encourage youth to hone their interests and talents through fun and healthy sporting activities. Such competitions also seek to cultivate and promote positive attributes like teamwork, fair play and healthy self esteem, says Mr Mahesan Kurukal, Youth Worker at Children’s Society. The games continued even after the competition, with chapteh and jump rope as fringe activities.

Participants said that the competition was a good chance to showcase sporting talent while bonding with other CABIN schools.

Fourteen-year-old Sheila Ho from Manjusri Secondary School said: “It has been a memorable event and all the teams displayed good sportsmanship and teamwork. I’m really glad I took part.”
