During our recent Flag Day fundraising event, many volunteers signed up to be a part of our street collection. This was our first physical Flag Day after taking on a virtual format over the past few years due to the pandemic. With the combined efforts of our staff and volunteers, we raised just over $19,000 from the street collection 😊.

During the event, one particular volunteer group caught our eye – MOMS Daily, a parenting platform and online community which recruited approximately 50 volunteers for the event!

Getting the family involved for a good cause: MOMS Daily volunteers and their children at our Flag Day 2023

We caught up with May Chen, founder of MOMs Daily to hear their story.

Tell us more about MOMS Daily and how it started? Who is in the team and what does the group do?

MOMS Daily is a parenting platform and online community that provides resources, advice and support to mothers in Asia. We cover a wide range of topics related to parenting, pregnancy, motherhood and family life. We seek to empower mothers by providing them with the knowledge, resources and support they need to navigate the challenges of motherhood.

When did you start to volunteer with us, and why did you choose to volunteer with Singapore Children’s Society?

Our first volunteer gig with Children’s Society was on 15 April 2023 for their Flag Day event. We have a deep interest in social work and community services and we desire to help children in need to make a positive impact in their lives.

The team also sees this as a chance to develop new skills and gain valuable experience and to give back to the community, contributing to a great cause!

How many volunteers participated in our recent Flag Day event? Share with us your volunteer experience.

We had approximately 50 people which consisted of mothers and their children.

It was an eye-opening experience for us as we witnessed the generosity of people who were willing to donate to the cause. We also learnt the importance of teamwork and communication skills as we had to coordinate with each other to ensure the smooth flow of the fundraising process.

How would you like to volunteer with us the next time?

We are interested in organising and coordinating events such as fundraisers, charity runs and other community activities, or by providing support for fundraising events.

We can also help by creating content and assisting with other marketing efforts to raise awareness about Children’s Society.

Lastly, we also hope to get a chance to provide tutoring and mentoring to help children build their confidence, develop new skills and achieve their potential.

What do you hope to achieve while volunteering with Children’s Society?

We would love to have opportunities to meet new people and build relationships with like-minded individuals.

Most importantly, we hope to make a difference in the lives of children, youth and families.
