After two years of being kept apart by the COVID-19 pandemic, over 40 youth members from JYC @ Children’s Society (GIG @ JYC) were finally able to come together for Reconnect, a three-day camp at D’Resort in Pasir Ris from Wednesday, 30 November 2022 to Friday, 2 December 2022.

It provided an opportunity for the youth members and staff to bond and rekindle friendships, says Mr Solomon Ng, Counsellor at JYC @ Children’s Society. “Social interaction was hindered during the pandemic, given that many were isolating and there were strict group sizes when hanging out with friends. This gave everyone a chance to reconnect.”

The camp kicked off with icebreakers and group activities to loosen the participants up.

Outdoor fun: Kayaking gave our participants a chance to bond, while also learning about teamwork and water safety

On the second day, they then hit the high seas, pairing off for kayaking, a sport that allowed them to foster teamwork skills and learn about water safety. It also gave them a chance to work up an appetite for a night of barbecue, drinks and music.

Hot smokin’ fun: Good times and great eats at the barbecue on the second night
Thank you to all our participants for making Reconnect such a success. The team from Singapore Children’s Society hopes everyone had a fantastic time.
