Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles serve as a comprehensive framework for evaluating the ethical impact of an organisation’s operations. ESG principles have transcended the corporate realm and are actively shaping sustainability practices in the philanthropic sector.
In the ever-evolving landscape of philanthropy, the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles has become a beacon guiding the practices of charitable organisations.
Singapore Children’s Society Philanthropic Achievements and Transparency
A testament to its commitment to transparency, the Society was honoured with the 2019 Charity Transparency Award, underscoring its dedication to openness and accountability in its operations. This accolade reflects our unwavering commitment to ESG practices and clear communication.
Transparency in philanthropy is crucial in fostering trust and accountability. Strong emphasis is placed on being transparent in our operations, ensuring that donors and stakeholders are well-informed about our initiatives, impact, and financial stewardship.
Digital Transformation for Environmental Sustainability
In a proactive move towards environmental sustainability, the Society has transitioned from traditional hardcopy donation receipts to digital receipts for its donors. This transition not only reduces paper waste but also aligns with the broader goals of minimising the organisation’s ecological footprint.
Embracing the era of sustainability, the Society has also phased out the printing of program booklets at events. Instead, it embraces digital versions distributed through QR codes.
As of 2024, the Society has also made the decision to publish its annual reports exclusively in digital form, representing a push towards sustainability. By abandoning the traditional hardcopy format, this strategic shift significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with printing and paper usage.
Integrating ESG into Sustainability Initiatives
ESG principles plays a part in guiding the Society’s decision-making processes concerning sustainability initiatives. By incorporating eco-friendly practices, the Society not only mitigates its environmental impact but also contributes to the broader sustainability agenda, exemplifying a holistic approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Beyond environmental factors, the Society incorporates social and governance aspects into its sustainability practices. The organisation ensures that its programmes and services positively impact the communities it serves and adheres to the high governance standards, reflecting a commitment to comprehensive ESG principles in its operations.
The Society’s Commitment to Ongoing ESG Integration
We embraces a philosophy of continuous improvement in its ESG sustainability practices. Recognising that the journey towards greater integration of environmental, social, and governance is ongoing, we remain committed to refining our approach to meet the high standards of responsible philanthropy.
