Hope & Smiles – Two simple words used in many life mottos. But the degree of how they can make an impact knows no bounds. Like Christopher Reeve said, “Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.”

To end 2021 and usher in the new, we created Project Hope & Smiles with the purpose of reminding each other, how acts of service and giving can translate into love, hope, and smiles for others.

In light of celebrating our 70^th Anniversary next year, Singapore Children’s Society took the chance to reflect on how far we’ve come in bringing hope and smiles to our community and beneficiaries since we started in 1952.

We chatted with a couple of volunteers of Singapore Children’s Society:

Despite coming from diverse backgrounds and differing journeys with our organisation, there’s one significant bond that ties them together – the burning passion to give back and help others in need.

As they dived deeper into their sharing, we can’t help but feel immensely inspired. It’s a clear reflection on how giving back can be done in many ways. Through donation, fundraising or volunteering – It’s done with the same goal in mind: To put hope and smiles on the faces and hearts of our children, youth and families in need.

When asked what advice one would give for anyone who is keen in volunteering, Leonard Sim said, “What is important is to put the belief into action. The advice is just to take the first step forward.”

It is never too soon to act on the intent and start giving back.
