In this section, we address some of the questions you may ask with regard to donations.

Q1: What are the modes of donation to Singapore Children’s Society and how do I make a donation via these different modes?

Q2: Is it safe to donate online via the Singapore Children’s Society website?

A: Our website is secure and ensures the use of the latest technology to encrypt all information during data transmission. To verify that the page requesting your credit card information is secure, the letters “https” rather than “http” should precede the page's URL and/or there should be an unbroken key or padlock symbol located in the corner of the web browser.

Please note that all donations are processed via an online payment gateway operated by Wirecard. If the donation is successful, you will receive an email from Wirecard indicating that you have donated to Singapore Children’s Society. The name “Singapore Children’s Society” will be reflected on your credit card statement as well.

Q3: How much do I have to contribute?

A: You can donate whatever amount you can afford as there is no minimum amount required. Every dollar you give matters.

Please note that donations of $1,000 and above from individuals will be channelled to 1000 Philanthropists fundraising programme, while donations of $1,000 and above from companies will be channelled to 1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need fundraising programme.

Q4: When will the monthly donation be deducted from my bank account?

A: If you are donating via credit card, your monthly donation will be made on the 8th to 10th day of every month. If you are donating via GIRO, your monthly donation will be made on the 10th to 12th day of every month.

Q5: Can I terminate my monthly donation anytime and who should I contact?

A: You may stop your monthly donation anytime. Please send us your termination request or enquiry to donations@childrensociety.org.sg.

Q6: Can I donate anonymously?
A: Yes. All charities honor anonymous donations. Specify your desire to remain anonymous, and we will respect your request.
Q7: If I make a donation, am I entitled to tax deductions?

A: Singapore Children’s Society is an Institution of Public Character (IPC) and all local donations qualify for 2.5 times tax deduction benefits. In order for your donation to qualify for tax deduction in 2017, please ensure that your donation and details reach us by 31 December 2017.

You may wish to note that the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) now automatically acknowledges the tax deductible status of your donations if the charity submits your identification number to IRAS on your behalf. This means that you will not need the tax deductible receipts when submitting your annual tax assessment forms. For more information, please refer to IRAS website:

Q8: Will Singapore Children’s Society issue me a tax deductible receipt for my donation?

A: We will only issue a tax deductible receipt if you provide us with a mailing address. Otherwise, we wish you would join us in our efforts to go green as regardless of your donation amount, we will help to submit your tax deduction to IRAS so long as you provide your identification number when making a donation.
