As Singapore returned to Phase 2 Heightened Alert measures in July, volunteers from Yishun Family Service @ Children’s Society got into gear to ensure our families-in-need continued to get all their essentials without having to come to the centre.

With their help, the centre delivered pre-packed bags containing food rations, donated household items, face masks, baby-related items such as baby milk powder and baby wipes, and even prams to the doorsteps of the families who needed them most.

For the participating volunteers, it has been time well-spent.

“Seeing the situations these families are in reminds me not to take things for granted. The families are always so grateful for the help they receive through these donations,” says Ms Whyemun, who began volunteering with us in 2017.

Through our distribution drives, children-in-need have also received refurbished laptops, donated by Engineering Good, to help with home-based learning. The laptop recipients ranged from primary school students to students pursuing their tertiary education.

Distribution drives will continue bi-weekly to ensure that the families we serve continue to get the support they need.
