Singapore Children’s Society scored a record-breaking $8.8 million in funding through its 1000 Enterprises for Children-in-Need (1000E) and 1000 Philanthropists (1000P) programmes in 2023. This was revealed during the Society’s annual Appreciation Dinner held on 17 April 2024.
The amount raised from the 1000E and 1000P programmes go towards funding initiatives and services run by Children’s Society in its ongoing efforts to support vulnerable children, youth and families.
A total of 1,796 enterprises and individuals were also recognised for their contributions in 2023. Patron for the 1000E and 1000P programmes, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Mr Teo Chee Hean, was the Guest of Honour for the event and presented tokens of appreciation to the attending donors.
In his speech, Senior Minister Teo spoke about Children’s Society’s efforts to meet the evolving needs of its service users and lauded the Society for its contributions.
“But there will always be more that can be done, and should be done – children who fall through the cracks, and who need a much greater degree of individualised care and attention. This is where our social service agencies, like Singapore Children’s Society, make a critical difference. You bring care and concern into the actions you take, giving these children the strength and confidence to rebuild themselves and do better,” he said.
With 2024 marking the 15th and 10th year of the 1000E and 1000P programmes respectively, Professor Ho Lai Yun, Deputy Chairman of Children’s Society, announced the Society’s plans to refresh both programmes, with details to be shared in the later part of the year.
“We started the 1000E and 1000P programmes to encourage individuals and corporates to contribute to the Children’s Society’s cause of paving a brighter future for all children, youth and their families. This unprecedented level of support not only speaks to the importance of our mission, but also to the compassion of our community,” said Professor Ho at the event.
