The article below is a profile interview of Prof Ho Lai Yun, Deputy Chairman of Singapore Children’s Society. Prof Ho was awarded the Public Service Star (Bar) for this year’s National Day Awards. He started volunteering with Singapore Children’s Society in 1988; today he is the Society’s Deputy Chairman as well as the Chairman of our Research and Advocacy Standing Committee (RASC).
Apart from Prof Ho’s milestones throughout his career as a paediatrician, the article also covered Prof Ho’s thoughts on the development of paediatrics in the next 10 to 20 years. While on the topic of education in Singapore, Prof Ho shared that he often reminded students who are less academically inclined that the road to success is no longer narrowly defined, encouraged them to believe in themselves and that they will find a skill they excel in.
The article also shared more about Prof Ho’s volunteering journey with Children’s Society with him playing an important role in Society’s work of child abuse and neglect prevention.
