Volunteer Vacancy 1: Supervised Study

Supervised Study is a
tuition programme which aims to provide a supportive and
confidence-building environment where students (Primary school
children from low-income families) can have the opportunity in
receiving academic guidance and supervision for English and
Mathematics.
The Volunteer tutor's main responsibility is to
coach the children and also portray the image of a good behaviour
role model, as well as befriending and mentoring the students. The
Volunteer tutor will conduct one-one/two tuition session once a week
on every Saturday, each lesson lasting between 1.5 to 2
hours.
The volunteers we're looking for should (ideally)
be:
1) At least 16 years old
2) JC, Polytechnics Students,
Undergraduates, Homemakers and Working Professionals are
welcome
3) Mature, friendly and able to be a role model to
children
4) Passionate and able to teach Primary schools
children in English and Mathematics
5) Anyone who lives near
Yishun, such as Toa Payoh, Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, Yio Chu Kang, Khatib,
Sembawang, Admiralty, Woodlands and Marsiling are welcome to

Volunteer Vacancy 2: Vulnerable Witness Support Programme
Date: Monday to
Friday
Time: 9:00am to
5:00pm
Minimum
Age: 21 years old and
above (preferable
female)
Committment: Minimum 1
year
Training Provided: Yes. A full day training will
conducted by Singapore Children's Society and The Subordinate Courts.
We recruit, train
and assign volunteers to child witnesses who have to testify in court. The
role of the volunteer is provide support and help to the
children.
Volunteers must have the
ability to speak calmly and be reliable. They must also be available to
attend court hearings and pre-trial court visits with the child
witness during office hours (9:00am to 5:00pm, Mondays to Fridays). Trial
hearings may take a few days up to two weeks, and
volunteers must be available to attend the sessions.
The volunteers we're looking for must
fulfil the following criteria:
1) Free of criminal records (personal particulars
will be sent to the CID for screening).
2) A Singapore
Citizen
3) Mentally and physically healthy
4)
Pleasant, warm, cheerful and neat in appearance
5) Completed
secondary school education
6) Speak fluent English
(Ability to speak Malay would be an advantage)
7)
Must be able to visit clients at home at a mutually agreed
time
