A school-based early intervention
project for child abuse and neglect prevention. By training
teachers, children at risk of abuse are identified through
the system. The parents of these children would be approached
to consider counselling and help by our trained social
workers. The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Community
Development and Sports support this project conducted
at Yishun
Family Service Centre.

Henderson
Children Centre provides day care, enrichment classes
and holiday activities for children, aged 7-12. These
children are from low- income and distressed families;
they are left at home without adult supervision. Under
our care, we nurture them with the necessary skills
and values to see them through adolescent difficulties,
and prevent them from involvement in socially unacceptable
behaviour.
An enrichment programme in language skills is provided
for children from low-income families. Through activity-based
teaching methods such as games, story telling, role
playing and other creative activities, our Primary 1
& 2 children can gain confidence in themselves and
increase their competency in English. This is held on
Saturdays from 10am-12pm at our Bukit
Merah Centre (Community Development).
Holiday Fun in June! Children enjoy a fun-filled time
of group works, camping and educational tours. These
children from low-income and distressed families can
learn teamwork, community sharing and independence.

Children's Society is the only welfare agency that provides
statutory support programme for young witnesses, aged
16 and below, who need to appear in Court. Working closely
with the prosecuting agencies such as the police and
the Attorney-General’s Chambers, we recruit, train,
assign and monitor volunteers attached to young witnesses.
Together with our volunteers, we give counselling and
emotional support to these children and their families.

Children's Society is the only welfare agency that provides
statutory supervision for children and young persons,
who are beyond parental control. Children are first
referred to the Juvenile Court by their parents for
their wayward behaviour. They would then be put under
our counsellors for a 12-month mandatory counselling
and group work support. Toa
Payoh Centre (Youth Development)
This is a 6 to 12 months counselling programme for children
referred by the police for committing first time petty
offences. Trained counsellors from the Toa
Payoh Centre (Youth Development) work closely with
the children and their families. Through the programme,
the children will build self-esteem and appropriate
life skills to cope with adolescence.
